PROMYS is a program for pre-college students who will be at least 15 years old by the first day of the program (unfortunately, there is no flexibility on this age requirement). Students from throughout the United States participate as well as many international students.

Admissions decisions will be based on the following criteria: an applicant’s solutions to a set of challenging problems, teacher recommendation, high school transcript, and responses regarding interest in the program. The application deadline was March 31, 2018.

Students from India are invited to apply for a Mehta Fellowship if they would be unable to afford to attend PROMYS without financial assistance. Mehta Fellowships provide a full scholarship to PROMYS including round-trip airfare from India, tuition, room and board, visa fees, and books. Eight Mehta Fellowships to PROMYS were awarded in 2017.

Yongren (永仁) Fellowships to PROMYS for low-income students in China

Thanks to funding from a generous family foundation, Yongren (永仁) Fellowships to PROMYS are available for selected pre-university students in China who could not otherwise afford to participate in PROMYS. The Yongren Fellowship provides a full scholarship to PROMYS (tuition, room and board) plus round-trip travel from China, visa application fees, and any required books.

The Yongren Fellowship is for mathematically talented pre-university students in China aged 15-19. Students who have already begun their undergraduate studies are not eligible. Applicant's command of English must be good enough for full participation in PROMYS (a TOEFL score is not required). Finalists for the Yongren Fellowship will be interviewed in English by Skype or telephone.

Please contact promysus@bu.edu if you have any questions about the Yongren Fellowship.

PROMYS Europe

Pre-university students who are 16 or older and ordinarily resident in Europe are eligible to apply to PROMYS Europe at the University of Oxford in England. PROMYS Europe is a partnership between PROMYS and the Mathematical Institute and Wadham College at the University of Oxford, and the Clay Mathematics Institute (CMI).

Students may apply to either PROMYS or to PROMYS Europe but not both for the same summer.
